The Cold Springs fire has burned over 188,000 acres, or 134 square miles. Located in Omak, it has maintained acreage burned since Sept. 15. As of Thursday morning, the fire is now 80% contained.
Crews worked yesterday (Wednesday) to fix roads and fences that were damaged during the fire’s start. Crews say smoke cleared out enough to get a flight over the fire to check on containment lines, and look for anything that could cause a flare up. Reports say that there are no areas of concern.
Most of the fire line is in patrol status and the entire fire is expected to be in patrol status in the next two days.
78 primary and 60 secondary structures have been lost due to the fire, homes and infrastructures remain at risk.
The cause of the fire still remains under investigation.
